How we work

We provide clear and realistic advice which is designed to safeguard your legal and financial position, whilst minimising the distress which a relationship breakdown can cause.

Whilst acting for you we will pursue your interests strategically and rigorously but remain mindful that, in certain circumstances, the most successful outcomes are those voluntarily agreed between a separated couple rather than imposed by a court.

We assist clients from all backgrounds including those from the farming, medical, financial, legal and business sectors and represent both high net worth individuals and those with more modest resources.

We will work with you in ways that best suit your needs.  Options include:

  • Traditional litigation
  • Mediation
  • Arbitration
  • Negotiations between solicitors which can include round table meetings

It is difficult to predict how long it will take to reach each stage, because each estate is unique. Generally, we aim to obtain a Grant of Probate within six months of the date a person passes away although it may be sooner. Our charges to provide the full estate administration service depend on the size of the estate, as this reflects the level of financial responsibility falling on our firm, and the time taken.

Our Costs

Our aim is to obtain the best outcome for you without you spending more than is necessary on legal costs.  We will always act proportionately, ensuring that we balance sensibly the costs involved with the outcome you are seeking.

Our fees are very competitive. During our initial appointment, we will give you an estimate of the costs involved.  This will be confirmed in writing.  Throughout your case, we will provide regular cost updates and assessments on further costs to be incurred so that you can keep track of the costs at all times.

We can often offer a fixed fee arrangement for dealing with an undefended divorce on your behalf. The fee is £750 plus VAT plus the Court fee (which is currently £593).
